Entry from: Melide, Spain Entry Title: “Stamp Collecting” Entry: “We woke up around 5:30 AM to get ready to leave for Ligonde, our next nights stay. We knew it would be crowded, but were overwhelmed by the numbers. I was outside at 6:00 AM waiting for Terri and Pam (Tom left at 5:00). There is a bridge over which the pilgrims leave town and there was a stream of lights being carried across the bridge already. The camino has become like waiting in line at Disneyland to get up some of the hills. I was wearing a headlamp and as we came up behind pilgrims who had no lights they moved aside, let us by, and then hung to our backside so they could see until the sun came up. Poor Pam got caught in a traffic jam coming up one of the hills. We stayed at a beautiful albergue in Ligonde run by a European branch of Campus Crusade for Christi. They’ve run this albergue for the past ten years. We got to Ligonde about 11:00 AM. They were encouraging us to move on, but we knew it would be difficult to find lodging. They told us that their mission was to be available for pilgrims arriving later in the day. We convinced them that they were fulfilling a different mission by allowing is to stay and not get caught up in the crowds. They finally acquiesced. Dinner was included and it was another great communal meal. I
