The Top 25 British Punk Bands of the 70s (In my opinion)

Welcome to The Top 25 British Punk Bands of the 70s (In my opinion). In my opinion is the caveat, the get out clause. Cos that’s all it is, MY OPINION of a very eclectic bunch of bands that hi-jacked the music scene from the unsuspecting British public in the late 70s and changed it forever!! So people, dont sh*t your pants if your band hasn’t made it into my top 25 or isn’t as far up the chart as you’d hoped! Also, take a good look at the title and think before you dive in to slag me off that I haven’t included the Dead Kennedys or GBH etc!!! They’re not there for a reason!! Its only my warped view of things back then anyway and its only a bit of fun! It’s not like Ive killed anyone or anything man!! Well not yet anyway, ha ha ha!!! IN ORDER OF APPEARANCE, THESE ARE THE BANDS AND THE TUNES: Intro – The Damned – New Rose 25 – The Vibrators – Automatic Lover 24 – 999 – I’m Alive 23 – The Rich Kids – Rich Kids 22 – The Lurkers – Ain’t Got a Clue 21 – Penetration – Don’t Dictate 20 – Siouxsie & The Banshees – Love in a Void 19 – Generation X – Ready Steady Go 18 – The Skids – Sweet Suburbia 17 – Johnny Moped – Hard Lovin Man 16 – The Undertones – Teenage Kicks 15 – The Rezillos – Destination Venus 14 – The UK Subs – Tomorrows Girls 13 – The Angelic Upstarts – Teenage Warning 12 – The Adverts – Bored Teenagers 11 – The Ruts – Babylon’s Burning 10 – Sham 69 – Borstal Breakout 9 – The Jam – In the City 8 – Stiff Little Fingers – Gotta Getaway 7 – The Buzzcocks – I Don’t Mind 6

although the Uk Subs did win the punk world cup style vote, i think its on thier website, they were against Stiff Little Fingers in the final (who beat clash in the first round!), Uk Subs did have the toughest first round as well, up aginst Sham 69, great video though enjoyed watching
