Hi Lightning,

Take pictures of each coin first. Set up a “PayPal” account with eBay and you can start for example by getting a bid on one of the least expensive coins. There are literally thousands of people who are collectors. Also there are coin collectors in almost every city. Try going to one, they will give you a clue as to how much they are willing to buy it (them) for. I wouldn’t trust online buyers.

Good luck

Your first answer is terrible. From your question, it does not seem likely that you have sufficient knowledge to properly list and sell on ebay.

Does anyone in your family know anything about coins or stamps? Friends? You need to do an inventory to have a clue regarding value. The more you know prior to attempting to sell, the better deal you are likely to get.

If you can’t find anyone knowledgeable to help, you can try to educate yourself. For coins, “A Guide to U.S. coins” by Yeoman is a good start. It is nicknamed “the Red Book” for obvious reasons. For stamps, Scott’s is a reputable name.

You might do best to sell the coins and stamps separately. Do a bit of research looking for coin and stamp dealers nearby. It would be best to get 2-3 offers to get the best price.

If it turns out that you have significant value, then consigning to an auction might be an option. This isn’t particularly likely, but could happen. For coins, Heritage (ha.com) is a reputable firm.
